Programs
AAS Degree
HOST offers an AAS Degree in Hospitality and Tourism management. This degree requires that the student earn 92 credits. This is approximately 6 quarters of full-time coursework.
An AAS Degree is transferrable to numerous hospitality programs globally including top-ranked programs such as UNLV (Las Vegas), Cesar-Ritz (Switzerland), Grand Canyon University (Phoenix), and Central Washington University.
Completion of the AAS Degree includes a high school diploma, the C52 Certificate, at least 3 short-term certificates, and is a recognized degree by the state of Washington. This degree makes international students eligible for CPT, OPT, and on-campus employment.
One-Year Certificate
HOST offers a One-Year Certificate in Hospitality & Tourism Management. This certificate requires students to earn 52 credits. 52 credits are three quarters of full-time coursework. For example, someone who begins in Fall Quarter (i.e., late September) would earn the C52 upon completion of Spring Quarter (i.e., mid-June).
The purpose of the 52-credit One-Year Certificate is to offer those with work experience and education in industries outside of HOST re-training for our quickly growing field. Some students in previous years have even earned master’s degrees before joining our One-Year Certificate program. Pursuing this certificate may be the best option for those interested in worker re-training programs, individuals shifting from a career outside HOST to one within our field, or those with extensive work experience in HOST who would like to enter a managerial role in the immediate future.
Short-Term Certificates
HOST offers short-term certificates in Hospitality & Tourism Management. These certificates can be earned by attending school full-time for one quarter or by being a part-time student for 2-4 quarters. The certificates are designed as an introduction to hospitality, tourism, and customer service. The certificates are designed for individuals who are seeking an entry-level position in HOST or short-term international students who are seeking a study abroad experience in the United States.
Stacked Certificates
Most short-term certificate students choose to earn three certificates. This is because of how HOST has “stacked” the certificates. Specifically, you can complete one course and have it apply to multiple certificates simultaneously. Most AAS and C52 students also earn three or more short-term certificates. The most common approach to certificate achievement is to complete the HOST Specialist Certificate, Customer Service in Hospitality Certificate, and one additional certificate in an area that most interests you (e.g., lodging, event planning, airlines).
These are the short-term certificates available in HOST:
